Our claim

It's no secret that we like change. In our eight years as an online shop for Appenzeller harnesses, dog collars and accessories, we have always tried to question and reinterpret the existing. This not only in the form of always surprising collaborations, but also with regard to the manufacture of our products.

In order to make our contribution to a sustainable circular economy in the spirit of the future, we are currently optimising our production processes. To this end, we asked ourselves where we can have a concrete influence:

• We already use 100 percent sustainable cowhide for most of our products - the raw material comes from organically certified farms in southern Germany and is vegetable tanned in a local pit tannery, which means without the use of chrome or other chemicals. In 2020 we have introduced the "Traceable Leather", first for the belts, since the beginning of 2021 also for the dog collars and leashes in the colors black, dark brown, cognac and light brown.

• Our belt bags are newly hand-sewn and made of sustainably produced linen - made in Lithuania - in collaboration with Explore Ware, our shop at Neumarkt 24 in Zurich.
• All our products are of the highest quality and therefore durable. However, if an ornament should come loose, we will replace it, and we will shorten belts that are too long free of charge.
• Last but not least, we have been supporting local and regional projects in Switzerland with one percent of our sales since 2021. More on this will follow shortly.

Because all these optimizations are not free of charge for us, we will slightly increase the prices of some of our products from mid-February 2021. We hope that you will understand and appreciate the high quality and sustainability efforts of Appenzeller Gurt.
