We believe that taking responsibility does not stop at our own company. That would be far too boring for us. The times we live in are far too exciting, and we like to think outside the box. And there's a lot to do out there. That's why, since the beginning of 2021, every time we buy one of our products, one percent of sales goes to a selected charity, for example an animal welfare or climate organization or another project worth supporting.
From 2021 to 2022, we donated as part of the 1% for the planet network. From 2023, we have decided to make our annual donation independently for two reasons:
- Also with organizations like "1% for the planet" about 20% of the donated amount goes into administration and organization.
- With "1% for the planet", "only" companies from the climate sector can be supported. Especially in Switzerland these are only a few and we would also like to have the freedom to support e.g. a guide dog organization.
We lose the "1% for the planet" certification with this, but we see more advantages than disadvantages.
With our 1% of 2022 we supported these 6 institutions:
1% for the Planet - Putting people and the planet above profit.
1% for the Planet represents a global network of companies, individuals and non-profit organisations addressing the most pressing environmental issues facing our planet.
All organisations listed by 1% for the planet in their directory are eligible for support.
Appenzeller belt was part of the organization in 2021- 2022.
In 2021, we supported the following institutions:
The beauty of Appenzellerland lies above all in its mountains. To ensure that this remains the case, we have decided to support the Mountain Wilderness Foundation. Mountain Wilderness is a dedicated alpine conservation organisation that works to preserve wild mountain spaces and promote environmentally friendly mountain sports in Switzerland. Its aim is to encourage people to experience mountain spaces responsibly and considerately, without leaving long-term traces.
Pro Specie Rara
It is naturally close to our hearts to be able to support Appenzellerland in some way. For this reason, we have chosen the ProSpecieRara Foundation, which saves genetic and cultural-historical diversity of cultivated plants and farm animals for future generations. Among the 32 breeds they protect, these include in particular the Appenzeller Sennenhund, or also known as the "Appezölle Bläss", the Appenzeller Barthuhn or the Appenzeller goat.
Protect our winters
Protect our winters raise the voice of the outdoor community for climate protection! They are involved in the programme areas of advocacy, nutrition, mobility and education. Their goal is to strengthen the outdoor community's commitment to climate protection through positive communication and awareness-raising, as well as by raising socio-political concerns.
